The Top 3 Stadiums and Sport Teams in Driving Distance of Salisbury, NC

1. Alumni Memorial Stadium

Located at 420 Institute Street, Alumni Memorial Stadium is the home ground of the Blue Bears of Livingstone College, who play in Division II of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Livingstone College Athletics also hosts its home meets at the 6,000-seat sporting arena.

In September 2022, the Blue Bears kicked off the football season in a newly remodeled stadium against Catawaba College. The $2.8 million upgrade for the multi-purpose stadium included a video scoreboard, a new and extended track, and a distinctive blue artificial turf on the football field. The Stadium is a huge step up from the snow-covered front lawn of Livingstone College, where the Blue Bears played their first game in 1892.

2. Bank of America Stadium

For those looking for a big venue experience, you can’t surpass the 74,867-seat Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. The home of the Carolina Panthers NFL team also hosts college football and the Charlotte soccer team. The multi-purpose arena is also the venue of choice when in Charlotte for several international music acts, including Elton John, the Rolling Stones, and Billy Joel.

At the end of the 2021 season, the sporting arena had a field upgrade when its grass surface was replaced with artificial turf to better accommodate the heavy schedule of football, soccer, and concerts. This surface is the same as the Panther’s practice field, the Atrium Health Dome, which is situated behind their official stadium. The 26-year-old stadium is situated at 800 South Mint Street.

3. Ludwig Stadium

Situated at 500 Lincolnton Road, Ludwig Stadium is home to Salisbury High School’s Hornets football team. This stadium is the perfect venue for the football fan who enjoys seeing sport at a grassroots level. Hornet’s field has a capacity of 3,500 and is also home to the Hornet’s Athletic and soccer teams.

Whether you’re keen on taking in a high school, college, or professional football game, there are plenty of options in Salisbury and the area around it. When the football season’s over, there are a range of other sports on offer at these venues.
