2022 Toyota 4Runner

The 4Runner comes in several trims. Of the trims, the TRD off-road, the 4Runner Trail, and TRD Pro feature 17-inch wheels, while the TRD Sport features 20-inch wheels. For colors, the Trail 4Runner features a unique Army Green body. Other colors for the 4Runner are Super White, Magnetic Gray, Midnight Black, or Lunar Rock hues for the Sport. The TRD Pro has four body colors, including a new Lime Rush. The 2022 4Runner bumper houses functional vents and fog lights with LED headlights. At the rear of the vehicle are LED tail lamps, bumper protection, and a single exhaust pipe. A sunroof, roof rails, and chrome exterior accents give the 4Runner its eclectic style.

The 4Runner has a 4.0-liter V6 engine with either rear-wheel or optional four-wheel drive with a five-speed automatic gearbox. The 4.0 liter V6 is becoming standard on many of Toyota's other vehicles for its power, longevity, and strength.

The 4Runner has 270 horsepower and 272 pound-feet of torque, towing up to 5,000 pounds. For in-city driving, the 4Runner can still get around effectively with its boxy shape, but truly shines off-road with its powerful engine and great ergonomics. Toyota's dual VVT-i 4.0 V6 engine found in its recent models are known for giving smooth rides regardless of surface or road, being quiet engines, and for steady reliability. How reliable are Toyota's V6 engines? Well, the V6 engine longevity can easily reach over 200,000 miles (320,000 km). This means the 4Runner not only is a great vehicle to buy, but the 4Runner also has decent resale value if you decide to upgrade or resell your vehicle.

The 4Runner comes with a standard 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa integration. For space, the 4Runner is roomy, with a generous 47.2 cubic feet of cargo area. With the back seat lowered, this area expands to 89.7 cubic feet. The 4Runner also has a unique, optional slide-out cargo floor that makes loading and unloading easy. Roomy enough for surfboards, luggage, or lumber, the slide-out function works even with the rest of the liftgate closed. The 4Runner's base trims have cloth upholstery. Higher trims have simulated leather and leather upholstery. Front seats feature standard power adjustability. Heated and ventilated seats are featured in higher trims.

Every 2022 4Runner trim comes standard with a forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking. Lane-departure warning and automatic high beams are also standard, as is ABS and eight air bags. Blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warnings are included on the TRD Pro, Limited, and Premium trims. In government crash tests, for NHTSA tests, the 4Runner gained five stars for its side-crash protection. According to the IIHS, the 4Runner received the institution's best-possible rating of "Good" in all crash categories.
