Escape the Heat at These Waterparks This Summer
Looking for affordable summer fun for the whole family? Waterparks are always a great option, and some of the best are of the non-traditional variety. The parks on this list may not be the first you think of when you hear the word “waterpark,” but each offers incredible fun and a chance to get soaked!
Adventure Landing Winston-Salem | Facebook
Adventure Landing’s Winston-Salem location is a great place to dip your toes in the water, so to speak. If you’re looking for a fusion of waterpark fun and other indoor and outdoor activities, it’s the perfect place for it.
Their new Bumper Boats are a bit hit with families. Bump, dodge, and splash your way around the Bumper Boat Pond—and go on the attack with squirt guns! After some fun in the water, kids can escape the sun in the Arcade with driving, blasting, and interactive dance games. Then, head back outside for some mini golf!
Dan Nicholas Park | Facebook
Dan Nicholas Park is one of the most budget-friendly ways to escape the heat—and that’s not hyperbole. Entry to the park is completely free, and its attractions can be experienced for little to no charge. It’s home to a campground, gem mine, aquarium and nature center, and Lake Murtis.
The Water Plaza is incredibly popular among parkgoers. On those humid days, you can stroll through the splash park and cool off without getting too wet—unless that’s your goal! For a small fee, you can take a paddleboat for a leisurely ride on the lake. See the best view of that bridge from the water itself.
Ray’s Splash Planet | Facebook
Get out of the sun at Ray’s Splash Planet, an indoor splash park with 117,000 gallons of water for your fun and games! Brave the Vortex, a quick current pool that pushes you in a circle, and try out the Blue Comet, a three-story giant slide.
Will you be ready when the Meteor Shower drenches you with buckets full of water? There are plenty of ways to get soaked at this waterpark, all out of the heat of the summer sun. With year-round open swim, you can enjoy Ray’s Splash Planet long after the summer ends, too!
