Best Places to Celebrate National Adopt a Cat Month in Charlotte NC

National Adopt a Cat Month in Charlotte, NC

My name is Tabby, and I’m taking over this page to tell you about the best places to celebrate National Adopt a Cat Month in Charlotte, NC. Like me, lots of kittens are born in June and need a fur-ever family to give them a loving home.

I don’t know where I would be today if my hu-mom (human mom, obviously) had decided to get a kitty from the local pet store instead of adopting me from the shelter.

It was a lucky choice for her, too. I may be a shelter cat, but that doesn’t make me any less of a queen. She should be honored that I grace her pillow every night.

Anyway, I want every homeless and orphaned kitten out there to get a lucky break like I did. If you’re looking to add a 4-legged family member to your home, skip the pet stores and adopt from one of these two places instead.

The Humane Society of Charlotte

Animal Shelter near Charlotte, NCI’m purr-sonally a big fan of the mission at The Humane Society of Charlotte, because the humans there want to see an end to homeless and unwanted animals. This no-kill shelter believes every cat deserves a safe and loving home.

Every furry friend that gets adopted from HSC has already gotten care such as veterinary tests, initial vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, and even a microchip. Plus, you’ll get 30 days of pet insurance in case your new companion gets sick after you take her home.

Whether you’re looking for a fuzzy kitten or a more laid-back older cat, head to this adoption center to meet your new companion.

Saving Southern Kitties

Kittens near Charlotte, NCUnfortunately, lots of rural shelters are high-kill, because there are many cats that need homes and not enough families to take care of them all. Apparently, some families don’t want to live with cats, which makes no sense to me?

Anyway, when cats are at risk of getting euthanized to make more room for new kitties at these shelters, Saving Southern Kitties rescues them. This organization brings the lucky kitties to Charlotte, where there are a lot more people looking to live with feline friends.

You can visit these lucky cats at the PetSmart in the Rivergate Shopping Plaza. Some cats live there all week long, but you can meet even more on Caturdays—oops, I mean Saturdays—when they have adoption fairs.

Meet Your Furry Friend Today!

Back to my hu-mom: she says she rescued me, but I really think I rescued her. If you’re looking for a furry companion to bring joy—and sometimes other gifts—into your life, I’m paw-sitive these two animal shelters in Charlotte, NC, can help out. Visit them today to help them celebrate National Adopt a Cat Month!
