2021 Toyota Highlander vs. 2021 Chevy Traverse

Overview

When shopping for a three-row SUV, two of the leading competitors are the 2021 Toyota Highlander and 2021 Chevy Traverse. Use this guide to learn what separates these two impressive vehicles.

Safety Features

If you have teen drivers, consider the Traverse since it has standard Teen Driver technology, which gives you a report as to how your child has been driving. Otherwise, the Highlander surpasses the Traverse in safety. This SUV comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense, which includes an extensive list of driver assistance features. To get anything similar on the Traverse, you need to add optional packages on upper trims.

Power

The Traverse's base 3.6-liter V-6 engine produces 310 horsepower compared to the Highlander's standard 3.5-liter V-6 engine that gets 295 horsepower. However, the Highlander also has a hybrid powertrain option that produces a combined 243 horsepower and gives you instantaneous torque from its electric motors.

Infotainment System

Even though the Traverse's infotainment system is easy to operate, its display is just seven inches across. Meanwhile, the Highlander's standard size is 8 inches, and drivers can upgrade to a 12.3-inch display that Toyota claims is the largest in the segment. The Highlander also comes with an optional 11-speaker JBL premium sound system, while the Traverse has a 10-speaker Bose system.
