2018 Tacoma Review

2018 Toyota Tacoma

Sometimes, drivers near Salisbury and Huntersville want a compact pickup truck that can serve all sorts of purposes. The 2018 Toyota Tacoma is one such truck, and it can handle towing, hauling, off-roading, or even just daily driving with ease.

In this 2018 Tacoma review, we want to give Lexington and Mooresville shoppers a glimpse at this highly capable vehicle. As you learn more about its specs and features, you’ll have a clearer picture of all that it can do for you! Contact us at Cloninger Toyota with any questions.

2018 Toyota Tacoma: Performance Specs

2018 Toyota Tacoma

The Tacoma keeps things simple with two powertrain options. The base engine, a 2.7L 4-cylinder with 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque on tap, is ideal if you’re just looking for a daily driver. It’ll get you from Point A to Point B more efficiently, and it can handle your around-town driving just fine.

For a bit more acceleration and capability, try the available 3.5L V6 engine. It produces 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque for potent passing and merging power on the highway. It’s the better engine for towing, too, with a max trailering capacity of 6,800 pounds when equipped with the available Tow Package.

That’s enough pulling power to tow a water ski, wakeboard boat, or a lightweight camping trailer. You can start getting ready for your ultimate weekend adventure!

Off-Roading Truck Features & Capabilities

As competent as the Toyota Tacoma is on-road, you’ll really be impressed by its performance on the trails. The Tacoma TRD trims are built specifically for off-roading, and they offer several useful features for that purpose:

  • Crawl Control (CRAWL),which automatically adjusts the throttle and brakes on five low-speed settings, so you can focus on navigating the terrain itself.
  • Electronically-Locking Rear Differential, which keeps the rear wheels spinning at the same speed, giving you more grip in low-traction conditions.
  • Bilstein®Shocks, which use high-performance components and valving to absorb all the impacts of the trails, so you can enjoy a smoother ride.

All-Star Technology Features for Your Ride

2018 Toyota Tacoma

Need some fresh air to reinvigorate your ride? One unique feature the Tacoma offers is an available power rear window. With just the touch of a button, you can slide it open and let the outdoors in. When you want some privacy, slide it shut and enjoy the tint of that dyed privacy glass.

There’s no doubt that driving around Huntersville, Lexington, and Mooresville can get very hot during the long North Carolina summers. Yet, the state is far enough north that winters can be quite chilly, too.

With available dual-zone automatic climate control, this won’t be a problem: You can customize your ideal temperature for your Tacoma, no matter the weather outside. Both driver and front passenger have this ability, so there’ll be no more fighting over the temperature knobs!
